Tiger never ceases to amaze. 69 wins. It’s unbelievable. The superlatives could go on and on, but…
Here is what is truly amazing: how bad his bad shots are and how good his good shots are. For being the great one, he can hit some really, really bad shots. Don’t get me wrong I’m not a Tiger hater, I’m a huge Tiger fan, but man, he can hit some doozies.
I’ve been with Garrett Willis this year and I’ve never seen him hit a shot that bad. Somehow, some way, Tiger recovers and he finds a way to get it in the hole. Also, NO ONE can hit the good shots he hits. Combine that with putting and his mind and that’s why he can still win like he does.
Here’s my diagnosis. I don’t think he’s fully recovered (his knee) and he’s still ‘changing’ his swing. Mix in some 6 frame downswings and PRESTO you get 50 yard snap hooks (US Open first tee), 200 yd pop up 3 woods (British Open) and other crazy stuff.
So, Golf is tough even for Tiger, but he’s still got the good swings no one else has. (and pretty much the best short game ever)
