Gary’s first drive was 333 (longest drive so far), basically drove the green then got up and down for birdie. This is pretty much what the NY Times article was telling us. You’re better off bombing it like a tour pro and then having plenty of shots to get up and down VS. hitting it 210 off the tee in the rough and then getting near the green and having to get up and down for par or bogey. It will be interesting to see the rest of the round and how this rookie holds up under pressure. One thing is for sure, no one will intimidate him.
